I really, REALLY, can’t get over this. Did you guys watch the incredible Maradona-like Messi goal? Did it give you flashbacks of Maradona’s goal (Goal of the Century) in 1986 against England which led Argentina to the world cup title?

I, perhaps more than others, feel very sad for what Maradona is going through these days. I wasn’t going to write about this, just so I wouldn’t come off as a show-off, but after seeing this goal and all what’s been happening to Diego, I felt it’s ok to talk about it. Having said that, I feel very fortunate to have met Maradona and actually spending a couple of days with him. Although the only intelligible (coherent) word I understood from him was the word “ok”, and the rest was up to the interpreter, but still it was Maradona God Damnit! You’re in the presence of the legend himself!
I’ve always been a big fan of Maradona, and I was watching the 1986 match LIVE when Argentina won the World Cup after the Hand of God brilliant stunt, but after meeting someone and exchanging thoughts and views, that appreciation and all the other feelings just intensifies. Especially that I’ve been informed prior to hosting him that he’s very arrogant and very ill-tempered, but it turned out he was a very sweet guy, though he’s really spontaneous! I also met Maradona’s ex-wife, his sweet daughter Dalma and her boyfriend, forgot his name.
Of course Maradona did not just decide to visit me, it was a paid visit to inaugurate a project my previous company did the marketing for, and I was the account manager for that project, otherwise I guess I would’ve never have met him. Maradona was recently admitted to a psychiatric clinic to treat his alcohol addiction.
