I got busy living!

Dear to whom it may not concern …

Did one sentence ever had an everlasting effect on your life?

when I was 18 years old, I was an unpredictable, careless, irresponsible person … and nothing, absolutely nothing, would have a positive influence on my behaviour. No mom and dad lectures, no true stories of failures who couldn’t make it because they wasted their lives recklessly. I was simply unchangeable but I was happy who I was and I insisted on being that way.

Then one day I was watching the very inspiring movie, The Shawshank Redemption, when one quote just turned my life upside down. It suddenly hit me, that I must change. I must become a better person. I must, I must!

“Get busy living, or get busy dying!”

The Shawshank Redemption

That was the quote I started acting on. I started using it as a basis for all my decisions and I still do. I started getting myself busy living as opposed to getting busy dying! And believe it or not, it did make me a better man.

I doubt it had the same effect on anyone like it did me, as I was watching the movie with some of, who were back then, my best friends, but I look at what has become of them now, and I just wish it effected them too.

What’s your favorite movie quote?

    Good post! Maybe my favorite.

Ok, this is going to sound silly but the only quote I can remember of any movie is from the movie “Dangerous minds” and I don’t have a clue why I love this movie so much but I do and I think I have watched it a million times (well maybe only 7).

Sub. teacher: where did your previous teacher go.
    random Kid: Emilio ate her.
Emilio: Bullshit! I didn’t eat her, she’s too ugly to eat…I fed her to my dog.

    I loved the Shawshank Redemption!

I just realized that I’ve never really thought of my favorite movie quote before, but generally.. there’s this quote similar to the one you like: “remember that you were born to live, not living because you were born”

“Life is like a box of chocolate , you never know what you’re gonna get”.
    - Forest Gump

“After all… I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her”.

    “Joel: Wait.
    Clementine: Why?
    Joel: I don’t know. Just wait… for a while.”
    - Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind

“We live and we die by the clock, that’s all we have”.

7aki fadi: glad you liked it … lol that’s a hilarious quote!

Lina: isn’t it just amazing? I love its tagline: “Fear can hold you prisoner, hope can set you free”. That’s a nice quote there too :-)

Isam: thanks and those are all brilliant quotes indeed. I didn’t get the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind though.

i love that movie, its so inspiring, it is about a man who never gives up, about someone who spands his whole life acheiving a goal with crumbs of rock!!! (and lets not forget, the way to freedom, goes through shit, so true!) thank u for bringing it up
my favorite line is from a movie i hate very much (can u believe that) its braveheart, when a guy tells Mel: we cannot do that … its impossible. Mel turns his head around and blasts: WHY? WHY IS IT IMPOSSIBLE?! (irish acccent) i dont recall anything in movies ever got me more than this line

also: The Recruite, Al Pactino: “you gotta give me something, Im an excellent judge of character”
Kaven Spacy: the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist (the usual suspects)
Kevin spacy again: ROLLO TOMASI (LA Confidential) … hell im gonna “reel” this on my dub reel!

If only I watched enough movies, if only I could remember their titles, if only I could remember the plots, let alone favourite quotes!

I suppose the only quote that springs to mind is “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get” - Forrest Gump.

I can barely recall the plot - and neither does this quote have any significance in my life, only that I remember it!

BUT, I’m recently getting into this DVD thing and hopefully I should be able to remember the names of movies I watch some time!

Nice post! And I’ll make a point to watch this movie!
