Aziz Maraka: not your average Jordanian musical whim

This is so good, I had to post it here as well. That blogger just amazes me with his stuff! ;)

This is not a musical whim, and no, he’s not a whimsical artist either.

This is an example of the new generation of Jordanian music, and no I’m not talking about another ’Abo Yousef ka3k ib 3ajweh’ crap, or even the ridiculous ’Firqit Sala7if El Ninja’, el nawar.

This is real
This is GOOD!
This is far beyond than good!

This is Aziz Maraka, ladies and gentlemen.

Aziz_Maraka

Aziz Maraka is a unique artist with his musical vision, ’RAZZ’ music. A combination of rock, Arabian and Jazz melodies. Maraka’s music is influenced by several experiences and facts about him; he grew up in the region of Arabia, inspired by the Biblical sites and the Arabian music all over the place.

It is difficult to explain Razz, indeed. You have to experience it to understand it, and it will surely have you wanting more.

Yes, I DO WANT MORE! I listened to one of his songs, La Hali [Alone], and immediately fell in love with the music.

We all know that Jordan is not a music factory and it’s certainly not the best place for honing musical talent, but sure enough, Aziz is unique, in being one of the very few, if not the only one, who plays and sings this kind of music. Let’s support Aziz I say! I myself will buy a couple of his CDs, keep one and give one as a present.

Aziz, being from the new generation, realizes the positive impact of online marketing, and will therefore make his coming album available for free on his website: azizmaraka.com.

This is a song that I totally related to. I also think he sounds pretty good, and the music is amazing! It’s an odd mixture, yes, but it’s the kind of oddness you’ll love!

Another example of Maraka’s groovy and “danceable” songs is Bint El Nas (right click, save as).

Listen to the music on this one. Amazing and rare work indeed! Both these songs will be available in his yet-to-be launched CD.

ENJOY!

    He is not that bad.

He mixes Jazz with some rock.

but I have to criticize his lyrics! sorry but they are below average, sometimes totally pointless!
ok the music is good, jazz is good. But they should pay more attention to the lyrics.

I prefer Macadi Nahhas, and sho hal ayyam band :)

Yes Abed, I realize he’s not Al Motanabbi when it comes to words, but you gotta take into consideration that a) he’s an expatriate and b) he’s in his early twenties.

So he has a long way ahead of him, but I’m liking what I’m seeing so far

I’d listen to Bent El Nas in the car. Actually, I do listen to it in the car. So I think he’s done a wonderful job with that song. Lahali has its moments.

His lyrics are not horrible, not bad, I would even say they’re more than decent. He’s a very promising artist, and I’m sure he knows well that he has to keep improving his lyrics.

this guy has it going, im pretty sure he is gonna get somewhere. lovely music, he has a warm voice, its full of expression.

i have no objection over the lyrics, the accent because it gives him character, it took me time to understand it but my only remark for him is the pronunciation, words come low at the end of lines especially in la7ali.

concerning his lyrics, i guess they reach to people, they just get to you and imagine if you were a foreigner as well, you would actually understand the music, he is doing a great job

This is AMAZING…la7aly gave me Goosebumps. biddi mama ana kaman :(

I gotta agree about the lyrics for the 2nd song, but the music is great :).

    Thanks for sharing 7sain :)

Yeah, the lyrics can be improved :)

    his writing is so gooooooooood .. 7elwe wallahe 3ajbatne .. ya36eh el3afeye .. looooooooool i didn’t read all the post but i like what i read

  11. Gravatar Icon 11 Abed Hamdan

I’d say he could do better, and apparently he will

  12. Gravatar Icon 12 7aki Fadi

    HAHAHAHA

    keef i3refet? lol

  13. Gravatar Icon 13 Who-sane

LOL, yeah he’s an excellent writer

Disclaimer : The following was not by any way a result of Topper behavior

maybe he’s innovative … his accent is nice … trying to create a new kind of fusion … this is all ok … but i think he should hire a lead singer in his band … because his voice is all over the place … always out of tune … needs ALOT of vocal training so he can control whatever comes out of his mouth along with his music … really …

he is not as bas as Sa3d el so3′ayyar :P but if he finds a good vocalist … it will be ALOT better …

    peace

did you listen to his song called: el 2esa (the story)? it is for Amman

what i like about him is that he sounds sincere and he has a warm voice. for me the simplicity is what got through to me with his songs.

  16. Gravatar Icon 16 Sel3

his songs are nice, there is another song for him which is quite funny, it’s name is possessed! i think i downloaded it from moey’s site

  17. Gravatar Icon 17 Batir

I am sorry to break the flow of enthusiasm but I did not find his voice appealing. The music is fantastic, the lyrics are not creative but he does not have to be Al Mutannabi but certainly he has to be with a better voice if he wants to make a name in singing. Otherwise, maybe he can stick to composing.

  18. Gravatar Icon 18 Who-Sane

Yes wonders, I agree with you. I did hear the song, and I’ll upload it here too

  19. Gravatar Icon 19 Who-Sane

    cool!

  20. Gravatar Icon 20 Who-Sane

I think it’s fine Batir, constructive criticism is always good for the artist. Thanks for your input!
