Would you like to have a virtual haircut?

This is sound engineering at its best, utilizing the technique of binaural recording.

Just like optical illusion, there’s auditory illusion, where you are fooled into believing one thing, but it’s something else that is happening.

However, it is absolutely a MUST that you listen to it using your audio headset/headphones. The regular speakers will NOT do.

PS: for best results, use the inside-the-ear type of headphones, then close your eyes and listen carefully.

there’s nothing creepy about it, it’s really awesome how it deludes you into thinking that the person speaking is moving around you as you listen to it.

It just might be a bit weird for ladies because you don’t go to barbershops

I was involved in early digital sound, particularly with the creation of sound samplers back in the days when samples were 8-bit, 1 second long and had an audio bandwidth of 14 Khz! We mucked about with binaural recording using two plate mics set either side of a head-shaped bundle of cotton. The result was so realistic that it took us ages to realise that there was a train passing across the recording - the track ran behind the facility and we’d become so used to the sound of it - in fact, we only realised when we replayed it in another location that didn’t have a railway behind it!

bye bye to 5.1 7.1 stupid surround systems … welcome Binaural … they should come up with a commercial name for it … binaural is not that flashy :)

LOL. It may not be new, but I’m very old… And it still makes the hairs on the back of your neck go up when it’s done well!!!

Some interesting experiments with this type of stuff in Pink Floyd’s ‘The Final Cut’, BTW!! :)
