Following up on my last post, today (September 11th, 2007) Dr. Salah Al Mawajdeh, the Jordanian Minister of Health, visited my dad at the hospital, on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II. During his visit, Dr. Al Mawajdeh assured my father that a rigorous investigation is currently in place to identify those who committed the mistakes and punish them. The Minister also promised to do his best to make sure that my father stands back on his feet again.
The King’s concern and Dr. Al Mawajdeh’s reassurance has been tremendously comforting to all of us and now we can rest assured that those who acted irresponsibly will certainly be disciplined and our father’s health will be taken care of.
On behalf of my father, my mother and the rest of my family I’d like to thank His Majesty King Abdullah for the concern he has shown and Dr. Al Mawajdeh for his kind visit.
I won’t forget to reiterate my thanks to each and every one of you who helped in getting the message across. Indeed, I wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t for all your wonderful support.

ONE GIANT STEP FOR WHO-SANE, ONE NOT-SO-BAD STEP FOR JORDANIAN HEALTH CARE AND DECENCY IN GOVERNMENT.
I don’t think I am alone when I say that Who-sane’s ordeal has touched me very personally.
The lack of action and the terrible 1st-response by the health ministry officials made my blood boil. Believe it or not, I even lost sleep over this outrage. It was so unbelievably unfair.
Tonight, I will sleep better knowing that a good Jordanian found some justice.
I am still saddened by the fact that it took royal intervention to get the ministry of health to do the right thing. It should not require KAII’s intervention for others to do be decent or simply to do what they are paid to do.
Who-sane, your ordeal is a symbol of a far bigger problem and I hope your father’ suffering will not go in vain. It may have helped push the issue of Jordanian public health care to the front burner.
Ramadan Mubarak to you and your family and to all the caring Jordanians out there. What a wonderful way to start Ramadan.
one more thing, I wish to propose a moment of silence for all past and future victims of Hamza Hospital who never did and never will find justice due to their inability to blog about their ordeal as eloquently as Who-sane.

Great news, just what I was hoping/praying to hear. Not a surprise at all from HM King Abdullah, this seems to be his heart. And a sure sign that Dr. Al Mawajdeh will do things differently as Minister of Health than his predecessors.

today i read an article in some news paper whithout names and i just wanna say my first and last word just for the future..
قصة مؤثرة فعلا ونتمنى عاجل السلامة لوالد الأخ حسين,
إلا أنني وخلال قراءتي للتعليقات التابعة للنص شعرت أحيانا بأن هناك سوء فهم لمغزى القصة.
فمن الواضح أن هناك نوعا من استغلال الفرصة المحزنة من قبل بعض الأطراف التي لا يحق لي أن أدعوها بالمشبوهة أو المدفوعة لتفريغ شحنات الحقد والكراهية المتراكمة تجاه ما يسمى “الحكومة” .
فقد أخذت تعليقات البعض منحى قد يكون خرج عن إطار التعاطف والتكاتف الذي عرف به الشعب الأردني منذ الأزل, إنما نرى تصاعد بعض الأصوات التي تستغل هكذا معاناة لإثارة أجواء هي أقرب الى ان تكون تشويشا وإزعاجا أكثر منها أصوات متعاطفة مع هذه المأساة.
بالطبع أحيي الروح الديمقراطية التي يتحلى بها المعظم هنا وقد حثّنا –كما نوّه البعض- جلالة القائد نفسه, وتعمل الحكومة على هذا النهج. لكن إلى حد ما.. بحيث يجب ألا نستهين بالصدى الذي تلقاه مدونات الإنترنت حول العالم, و رأس مالنا هو سياحتنا, العلاجية منها بشكل خاص, والسائح لا يعنيه أن يكون مستشفى خاصا أم حكوميا عندما يأتي إلى الأردن, فهو يسمع الصيت الطيب عن مرافقنا العلاجية, وعدم نشر ما يحصل من أخطاء في قطاعاتنا المختلفة هو ليس تسترا على الواقع ولا “تحت السجادة” كما يدّعي البعض!! بل أن هناك ألف طريق وطريق لكسب التأييد ومعالجة الخطأ والنقد البناء.
ذكر الأخ حسين عن توجهه الى صحيفة رسمية لسرد مأساته بل مأساتنا جميعا, مع رفض الصحيفة نشر القصة.. فقط أتساءل هنا , ألا يوجد عشرات الصحف الأسبوعية التي تبحث عن الزوايا الحادة المثيرة للجدل في الأردن لتحقق السبق الصحفي من خلالها؟ أوليس هناك نظام قضائي؟ أو مسؤولون قياديو في الوزارة لمراجعتهم قبل “الفضيحة” ؟ أو حتى مجلس نواب –لو تم حلّه- يبقى قادرا على إبراز المشكلة إن لم يكن حلّها؟؟ مجرد تساؤلات أتمنى ألا يستغلها “الجهّال” في التهكم على ما أقول!
كما أتمنى ألا يفهم تعليقي كدروس في الوطنية كما اتهم بعض المعلٌقين وحتى الصحفيين المبتدئين في مجال عملهم تعليقات سابقة وهنا فضّلت أن اكتب بالعربية علّي لا أقع في نفس دائرة سوء الفهم الذي وقع به غيري!!.. فالقصد ألا تأتي صحيفة ألمانية أو بلجيكية أو فرنسية أو مهما كانت لتثير مأساتنا أمام العالم باسره, فنحن –حسب اعتقادي- لا نحتاج تضامن دول الغرب معنا ! لاننا نمتلك –وحسب ما قلتم- الأخلاق والمسؤولية لمواجهة هذه التراجيديا وتصحيح الخطأ دون إثارة هذه “الزوبعة” من الحقد والكره –مرة أخرى-.
وأنا إذ أشد على أيادي وزير الصحة ومساعديه مسؤولي التحقيق ,أحييهم على احترامهم الديمقراطية وأخذهم هذه القضيّة بعين الإعتبار , فهذا هو “العشم” من الأردنيين وسيبقون بإذن الله عند حسن ظن سيدنا القائد بهم, وأدعوهم إلى الاستمرار في هذا التحقيق وإظهار النتائج العادلة الواقعية التي من شأنها تلافي حدوث هذه المأساة في المستقبل لا قدّر الله, وللأخ حسين ألف شكر على جرأته في إظهار الحقيقة وأتمنى السلامة بل ألف سلامة للوالد.

و أمر أخير سياحتنا العلاجية يا إخوان لن تتأثر عندما تتحمل الأطراف المعنية مسؤولياتها و تتصرف بالشكل المطلوب فلا توجد دولة في العالم لا تخلوا من الأخطاء الطبية و لكن الفرق يكمن في من يستطيع محاسبة المقصرين و الرجاء عدم إتهام حسين بعدم المسؤولية يا أخي سبحا الله كيف تنقلب الضحية إلى جلاد مع أننا جميعا نعلم أن لا أحد يستمع لمن لا يتكلم و بمناسبة الحديث عن النظام القضائي هل هناك أية قضية تم الحكم فيها على أي طبيب بسبب أخطاء طبية في اخر خمسين سنة وكم مرة لو سمحت؟ ثم عن أي مجلس نواب تتحدث؟ و يا سلام على القياديين المسؤولين في وزارة الصحة بالله عليك أجبني هل هم أنفسهم سبب كل المصائب التي تتوالى؟ أم أنكم لا تقرؤون تجارب الاخرين التي تفيض في التعليقات بين تقصير و إهمال بمختلف التخصصات الطبية… واضح أن البعض يعيش في عالم اخر و كل عام و أنتم بخير و الله يكثر من أمثالك يا حسين حتى يعلم المقصرون أن أرواح الناس ليست رخيصة و أن هناك رجالا لن تسكت حتى تستعيد شيئا من حقوقها فأرواحنا أهم بقليل من قلق بعض الأشخاص على السياحة العلاجية؟!؟
