Religious Hypocrisy

This video is truly hilarious and probably has nothing to do with the title of the post, but Hajjaj conveys, to some extent of course, the fake open-mindedness some of us expatriates claim to have adopted far away from home.

Of course I am all for standing for one’s principles and beliefs, but there are people who manage to simultaneously live in both sides of the fence and who eventually appear as hypocrites.

It kind of reminds me of those people who have no problem committing the seven sins [السبعة وذمتها] … yet when the Adhan calls, they’ll take a break from whatever bad thing they were doing, as if nothing’s wrong, pray, and then resume the wrongdoing after prayer … and of course when you dare to question their integrity, they’d say something to the effect of (إن الصلاة تنهى عن الفحشاء والمنكر) (Prayer restrains from indecency and evil deeds. (29:45)).

So, in other words, those people will continue to commit all the sins they can possibly commit in a one lifetime and pray for forgiveness in the hopes that God shut his eyes and overlooked all what they did. Well I would rather not pray at all than be a double-faced hypocrite who will probably serve more time in hell than someone who never prayed but never committed as much sins.

Anyways, do enjoy the video :-)

if you think about it for a second you shall find the true meaning of the verse. If you are committing sins and you pray then praying will prevent you from doing more sins. But if you commit sins without praying, then there is no stopping you. prayer does restrain from indecency and evil deeds.

So true, about people who sin and pray. But this is the nature of us people, you can’t not sin, but like Mujahid mentioned, praying helps us to keep away from sin (for a longer time at least)

    LOOOL…really funny clip.
But yea, it does show the hypocrisy… look at manzarro and then him spouting all that crap about his sister and how his wife is a niqbi and he has a dishdash… pu-leeze…. THAT’S what makes him religous???? very funny! Sad when it’s true tho..
Religion is all about consistency… even if you sin (and who hasn’t???), you pray for forgiveness and try to not do it again. Sin again? Pray for more forgiveness. Eventually, if you really mean it, you will be able to stop (inshallah!).
So yea, I have to agree with the other commenters. As bad as your life is, maybe one day it will eventually stop them from sinning.

TO the person who said praying is overrated i think you are a very deluded person. When you are in hell surely you will think other wise because performing prayer is the way to show God that you appreciate all what He is doing for us. Im not just saying this about islam, it applies to all religions too.

You reminded me of what someone at work told me when they were trying to convince me to pray.

They’re like, what’ve you get to lose, its a 10 minute break from work, and if the bearded ones are right, you will avoid going to hell.

My response: I won’t take anyone else’s word for something that will have me kissing the carpet 5 times a day.

I’m gonna have to disagree with you on this one Hani.

Each religion has its own liturgy, either “kissing the carpet 5 times a day” or banging their head against a wall, but in the end of the day, we must respect those religious rituals no matter how odd they seem, although I know, given the fact that you’re living in Jordan, prayer should not strike you as odd.

I respect their right to pray, but not the prayer itself.

I’m easily twice as honest as 3/4 of the people I know who pray. So I wouldn’t respect those who pray unless they earn it.

    assalamu alykum

actually religious hypocrisy isnt about sinning and then praying and then sinning again and praying.actually this is the real world…people sin and then to expiate their sins Allah gave them many chances to fix what they’ve broken.

The real religious hypocrisy is this:
When someone says I wont pray until I am convinced or I won’t wear Hijab until I feel at comfort with it!!

You are a muslim??then you MUST conform to muslim rules…as simple as that!!

If you were going to any club and they ask you to wear their special uniform or any job and they ask you to dress formal you agree right away even if it’s a ridiculous uniform!!

when it comes to Islam we say we are muslims and then we have to get CONVINCED!!!!!!!!!!!!

    That is hypocrisy!!
