The Catalan Job
I was in the beautiful city of Barcelona* last month for the Mobile World Congress (my second time for the same event). Again this year, I didn’t get to see much of what went on at the show as I was glued to my client’s stand, but then again every night we’d go out, have tapas and paellas – a lot of them! – and enjoy a lot of what the city has to offer.
Anyway, here’s some of the cool stuff I saw there:
Yes, it’s legal in Barcelona, and there are shops to improve the experience
La Rambla is an awesome, busy and a highly entertaining street in Barcelona

Street Spray Paint – La Rambla
Cool Street Performances – La Rambla
Sagrada Família (Gaudi’s Unfinished Church)

Gaudi’s Casa Batlló

Barcelona’s Arc de Triomf

Barcelona’s beautiful alleys. Barcelona made me realize how much I admire alleys and passages. I’d aimlessly roam the streets looking for the next alley to stand and gaze at it in complete wonderment at how it came to be.
Museu Picasso (The Picasso Museum. No pictures allowed inside)
And the coolest ad I’ve ever seen was in Barcelona!

And then there was graffiti … a lot of graffiti!

And that’s really it folks! It was a bit difficult enjoying what you’re seeing and taking a photo or video of it at the same time, so there were some missed photographic opportunities, but, to pat myself on the back, I think I did a decent job at documenting it. All in all, Barcelona is an awesome city, with awesome people, awesome weather, very good food and great company!
Perhaps it’s also worth noting that these high-res photos and HD videos were all taken from an iPhone 4. I think their quality is awesome, but you can just imagine how much beauty a DSLR would’ve brought back!
Verdict: if you’re preparing a list of cities to visit, make sure you’ve got Barcelona there.
* Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, one of the Spain’s seventeen communities, and hence the title of this post. I have also become fascinated by calling my short journeys ‘jobs’ as they are not really a result of any vacation planning, but are work-related trips. Obviously, I am not complaining here.

Lucky you, I LOVE Barcelona! Haven’t been for 14 years…
Some great photos in there – especially that first alley shot and the one of you with the pigeons

Thanks Sarah. Barcelona is awesome indeed. By the way, the photos you liked are the only two photos I processed. Maybe I should do more photo processing moving forward

The first pic of the alleyway is just divine!
